Linux Tip: Access Gmail from the command line

Command-line lovers rejoice: you can use Postfix and Fetchmail to read and send Gmail from the terminal. Tech site Soup To Nuts has a no-holds-barred tutorial that runs through the entire process, which isn’t for beginners. Once you’re all set up you’ll be able to back up your Gmail messages locally using the mechanism. This tutorial is distro independent and should work on all flavors of *nix.
